The City of Life: All About Us -- What We Believe WHAT WE BELIEVE AT THE CITY........ * We believe that the Bible is the true, infallible, and inspired Word of God, which cleanses our souls. It holds the words of eternal life and the keys of the Kingdom of God. The Bible teaches us God's principles and standards for living an abundant and victorious life. (John 1:14; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; I John 2:5-6) * We believe in one God who is eternal in His existence. He is Sovereign and Absolute in His authority. * We believe in the Father who is God Himself, Creator of the universe. (Gen. 1:1; John 1:1) * We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is God showing Himself to us. Born of the Virgin Mary, He assumed a human body and He is both divine and human. (John 1:1-14; I Timothy 3:16) * We believe that Jesus suffered, bled and died for our sins, was buried and rose from the dead for our total salvation. (Luke 3:21-22; Philippians 2:5-11) * We believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. (John 3:36; John 3:31-32; John 14:6; Acts 4:12) * We believe in the Holy Spirit who is God indwelling and empowering the believer. This Holy Spirit is also called the Comforter. The Spirit of Truth. (John 14:17; 14:26; Acts 1:8) * We believe that the blood of Jesus atones for our sins. It is through His shed blood that we are saved, healed and set free from bondage and the forces of darkness. (Romans 5:9-11; Ephesians 1:7; Rev. 12:11 * We believe that every believer must have a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, for apart from Him we can do nothing. (John 15:1-5; Hebrews 13:5-6) * We believe that we must learn His ways and exchange our way of thinking for His. We are to be conformed to the Kingdom of God by the molding and shaping of His hands. (Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 4:23-29; Philippians 4:8) * We believe that Godly living and the pursuit of a Holy life should be the goal of every believer. (Heb. 12:14; Philippians 3:14) * We believe that believers should be water baptized by immersion for the remission of our sins. It is through baptism that we publicly identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:11-14; Acts 2:38, Acts 8: 34-39) * We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other tongues and a changed life. (Acts 2:4; Acts 2:38; Acts 10:44-48; Acts 19: 4-6; Ephesians 5:18-21) * We believe in the soon returning of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the King of Glory and is coming back for the catching away of His church.(the Rapture). I Thessalonians 4:16,17; I Corinthians 15: 51-54; Acts 1:11 THE WAY WE WORSHIP AT THE CITY..... Join in with us as we praise God together in Spirit and in Truth. (John 4:24; Psalms 150) WE PRAY TOGETHER ALOUD because... In the Bible we read, "They lifted up their voice to God with one accord." Acts 4:24 WE LIFT OUR HANDS IN PRAISE because... In the Bible we read, "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD." Psalm 134:2 WE SING WITH ALL OUR HEARTS because... In the Bible we read, "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth; make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise." Psalm 98:4 WE PLAY MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS because... In the Bible we read, "and all the house of Isreal played before the LORD on all manner of instruments. II Samuel 6:5 WE CLAP AND SHOUT UNTO GOD because... In the Bible we read, "O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph." Psalm 47:1 WE DANCE BEFORE THE LORD because... In the Bible we read, "Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs." Psalm 150:4 WE ANOINT WITH OIL FOR DIVINE HEALING because... In the Bible we read, "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord." James 5:14 |
